The teaching and research activities at the Department of Household and Consumer Oriented Health Economics cover demand-oriented problems of the food- and non-food-sector, including the analysis of consumer behavior concerning health related consumer protection.

The economic and social situation of private households plays a key role as a determining factor of household demand and welfare. Additionally, special attention is paid to food safety aspects. This leads into problems of consumer, health and social policy which are strongly interrelated.
